Best time for D.C. homeowners to sell; Reston students celebrate art and creativity

A recent post by Curbed D.C. suggests that homeowners looking to sell should put their home on the market one month earlier than the national average for the best results.

In D.C. proper, put your house on the market between April 16 to 30. During this time frame, listings sell an average of 18.5 days faster and 1 percent higher. Nationally, the best time to sell a home is between May 1 and May 15, according to a new analysis from Zillow.

Zillow said that D.C.’s earlier “best sell date” is due to distinct climate changes in the area. If sellers follow Zillow’s advice, their listing will most likely sell 18 days faster and 1.1 percent higher.

Virginia residents should all sing along with Virginia Beach native Pharrell Williams: “Because I’m happy!” (Consumers were so “happy” with this Top 40 song that it became only the fourth single in 20 years to go triple platinum.) According to WalletHub, this southern state ranks as the 19th happiest state in the U.S. for 2015.
