Father’s Day events in Reston

runwithdadThe 7th Annual Run with Dad 5K takes participants through Reston on June 19. The 5K race starts at 8 a.m. at South Lakes High School (11400 South Lakes Drive), and the 1 mile fun run/walk starts at 8:45 a.m. A commemorative race item will be given to each Dad at packet pick up. All registered runners will receive a Run with Dad 5k short sleeve T-shirt. There will be awards given to the top 3 overall males and females, plus there will be awards for the top father/child teams and the top multi-generational teams (3 and more generations).

Promotions in Reston Town Center:

  • Big Bowl: Open 11 a.m.- 10 p.m., offering specials and regular dinner menu all day.
  • Morton’s The Steakhouse: Offering 3 courses of select salads, entrees, sides and desserts for $59.

The Melting Pot (11730 Plaza America Drive, Suite 100): Offering Father’s Day Endless Fondue — Endless entree including teriyaki sirloin, buffalo chicken, Pacific white shrimp, filet mignon and Memphis BBQ pork tenderloin, plus choice of any Chocolate Fondue for $39/person. Runs June 19-21.

Beyond Reston

Antique Car Show — Celebrate Father’s Day at Sully’s 43rd Annual Antique Car Show (3650 Historic Sully Way, Chantilly) co-sponsored by the FCPA and The Model A Ford Club of America. More than 400 antique and classic cars fill the grounds, 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Buy the car of your dreams at the Car Corral or search for the perfect accessory in the Flea Market with more than 100 vendors. Treat Dad to a delicious lunch and enjoy some music. A tour of the first floor of the 1794 house is included in the admission. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7 for children. Father’s Day Tournament — This tournament at Oak Marr Golf Course (3200 Jermantown Road, Oakton) begins at 9 a.m. and has a two-person team scramble format. Juniors, age 8 to 17, are divided into different age groups: Father/Jr. 8-10, Father/Jr. 11-13 and Father/Jr. 14-17. Trophies are awarded for each age group. Registration begins June 1. There is no rain date. The cost is $40 per team and is due at registration. Call 703-255-5390.

Father’s Day Celebration — Treat Dad to a free wood-carving lesson with Northern Virginia Carvers from noon to 4 p.m. at Colvin Run Mill (10017 Colvin Run Road, Great Falls). There is a nominal charge for wood blanks. Free mill tours are being offered for all dads accompanied by their children. The tour cost for others is $7 for adults, $6 for ages 16 and older with student ID, and $5 for children and seniors. Call 703-759-2771 for more information.

Animal Dads — Pretend to be a penguin, wolf and beaver dad as you learn about these doting fathers. Meet live animals and make a craft for your favorite father/grandfather at Hidden Oaks Nature Center (7701 Royce St., Annandale). This program for children ages 2-6 runs three times: 9:45 to 10:30 a.m., 11 to 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. The cost is $6/child, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
