Finances have been put in place to create a bikeshare community in Reston and Tysons. The $1.7 million plan was approved last week during the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting. The Board signed off on the county’s grant application for the Virginia Department of Transportation’s FY 2017 Transportation Alternatives Program back in October. The grant, worth $400,000, will go to pay for bicycles and bicycle stations, as well as anything else needed to get the program up and running.
The plan is to use Capital Bikeshare to place 212 bikes at 26 stations throughout the Reston and Dulles areas. No exact locations have been announced yet, but the project is set to begin this fall. Click here to read more.
